The nursing profession is in hot demand, but the most challenging part of getting a job can be figuring out how to get paid, a new study says.
The latest data from the Association of Private Sector Nurses shows more than 6,500 people are employed in the nursing profession, up from 2,400 in 2016.
The numbers have risen as the nursing sector has gained prominence in the United States and around the world.
The American Nursing Association reports that nursing has become one of the fastest-growing professions in the country.
The American Society of Nursing has been urging the nursing industry to find more ways to make more money and to help workers, including paying workers less and helping them get the training they need to make a career.
In a report published Monday, the A.S.N. said it has compiled a list of ways the industry could make more from the jobs it already has.
In addition to providing nurses with jobs, the report also calls on nursing firms to develop better systems for paying their workers.
It called for a change in how workers are paid, especially those who work long hours.
The nursing industry has also seen a surge in the number of people seeking nursing jobs.
About 7 percent of the workforce is female, up 3 percentage points from 2016, according to the A-S.S., while in the private sector, the number is 12 percent, up 7 points from 16 percent.
